Extrusion : procédé de fabrication de profilés divers généralement en continu réalisé à l'aide d'une extrudeuse : boudineuse associée à un convoyeur-étireur ou machine à filer.

Ce sont des matériaux de construction (cylindres et parallélépipèdes) à section droite constante et d'une longueur parfois considérable, livrés à l'industrie ou au grand public [...] Cylindres : Fil, Crin, Jonc, Tube. Parallélépipèdes : Film, Feuille, Plaque, Profilé. Profilé : Semi-produit de section droite uniforme dont le rapport des dimensions transversales est éventuellement de quelques unités; ces dimensions étant par contre petites eu égard à la longueur.
